E-commerce Development

Stores Built to
Sell.

An online store is not a website with a buy button. It is a system: product data, inventory, payments, shipping rules, tax, order fulfilment and customer accounts, all of which have to work together without anyone babysitting them. When one part is wrong the symptom is always the same — abandoned carts and support emails.

We build e-commerce sites for Australian businesses that are fast enough to hold attention, structured so Google can index every product, and wired into the systems you actually run your business on.

What does e-commerce development involve for an Australian business?

E-commerce development covers the storefront plus the systems behind it: product and inventory data, a secure checkout, payment gateway integration, shipping rules and GST configuration for Australian requirements. Designie, a Sydney studio, builds stores where every product has its own indexable page so the catalogue can be found in search.

Why It Works

Fast Product Pages

Product images are the heaviest thing on a store. We compress and serve them in modern formats so pages stay quick even on a phone with poor reception.

Secure Checkout

Payments handled through established, compliant gateways. Card data never touches your server, which keeps your compliance burden where it belongs.

Product SEO

Every product gets its own indexable page with structured product data, so your catalogue can appear in search and shopping results rather than hiding behind a filter.

Inventory That Holds Up

Stock, variants and pricing managed in one place, so what a customer sees is what you can actually ship.

The Checkout Is Where Money Leaks

Most stores lose the majority of their carts at checkout, and the reasons are rarely mysterious: forced account creation, shipping costs that appear at the last second, too many form fields, or a payment step that feels untrustworthy. We treat the checkout as the most important screen on the site and design it accordingly — guest checkout available, costs shown early, fields reduced to what is genuinely needed, and familiar payment methods presented clearly.

  • Guest checkout — never force account creation to buy
  • Shipping and total costs shown before the final step
  • Minimum viable form fields with proper mobile keyboards
  • Recognisable payment options and visible security signals

Built to Be Found

A store with a thousand products and no indexable product pages is a store with one page as far as Google is concerned. We make sure each product and category has a real URL, a unique title and description, and Product structured data covering price, availability and description. That is what makes a catalogue eligible for rich results in search and for inclusion in shopping surfaces — and it is what turns long-tail product searches into traffic you did not pay for.

  • Individual indexable URLs for every product and category
  • Product schema with price, availability and description
  • Clean filter and pagination handling — no duplicate-content traps
  • Fast category pages that stay fast as the catalogue grows

Integrated With How You Operate

A store that requires someone to re-key every order into another system is not finished. We connect the storefront to the tools you already use — accounting, shipping and fulfilment, email — so orders flow through without manual handling. Where an off-the-shelf integration exists we use it. Where one does not, we build it.

Common Questions

Which e-commerce platform do you use?

We choose based on what the business needs rather than defaulting to one platform. For catalogues with standard requirements an established platform is usually the sensible, lower-cost answer. Where a business has unusual pricing, product configuration or fulfilment logic, a custom build ends up cheaper than fighting a platform. We will tell you honestly which category you are in.

Can you migrate my existing store?

Yes. We can move products, categories, customers and order history across, and set up redirects from your old product URLs so you do not lose the search rankings you already have. Redirects are the step most migrations get wrong.

Do you handle payments and GST?

We integrate established payment gateways and configure GST, shipping rules and tax display for Australian requirements. Card data is handled by the gateway and never stored on your site.

What happens after launch?

You get a store you can add products to yourself, and we walk you through it at handover. We also offer ongoing support packages if you would rather we handle the technical side.
